Leadership team

The CMPA's executive leadership team (ELT) includes the Chief Executive Officer, the Associate Chief Executive Officer and six Executive Directors, who each bring a unique and diverse set of skills to advance our assistance to and support of members and our contributions to safe medical care across the healthcare system.

ELT is supported by departmental directors and managers with expertise in specialized areas.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Lisa Calder, MD, MSc, FRCPC

Dr. Lisa Calder was appointed CMPA CEO in 2020. She is an award winning emergency physician, researcher, and teacher, who completed her Medical Degree at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Calder has a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa, where she also completed her Royal College Emergency Medicine residency and an Emergency Medicine research fellowship. Prior to joining CMPA in 2015 as the Director of Medical Care Analytics, Dr. Calder spent more than a decade practising as an emergency physician in Ottawa.

  • Explores opportunities to prepare CMPA for the future and supports organizational transformation
  • Manages business strategy, planning, and enterprise risk, and the physical buildings and develops insight to support strategic planning and performance

Cory Garbolinsky, CPA, CA
The Financial Services team:
  • Provides strong financial oversight and investment management
  • Provides actuarial services to support the development of member fees and assess and manage the financial impacts of organizational risk

Pamela Eisener-Parsche, MD, CCFP(COE), FCFP, CCPE
The Member Experience team:
  • Provides members with medico-legal advice, assistance, and protection – focuses on delivering an excellent service experience across the country
  • Oversees the delivery of membership services and the physician wellness strategy

Executive Director, Safe Medical Care and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)

Armand Aalamian, MDCM, CCFP, FCFP

The Safe Medical Care and EDI team:
  • Supports safe medical care through the development and delivery of evidence-based, learning products and peer-reviewed research to enhance the safety, reliability and quality of healthcare in Canada
  • Advances EDI for members and employees to support safe medical care and foster inclusion and belonging
  • Executes  and refines the strategy and roadmap for blended approaches to learning for members and employees

Executive Director, Technology and Analytics and Chief Privacy Officer

Chantz Strong, BSc, MSc
The Technology, Analytics, and Privacy team:
  • Provides secure, reliable, and adaptable business applications solutions and technology that support corporate operations and member services
  • Provides data and analysis to support informed and evidence-based decision making across the Association
  • Develops and enforces privacy standards and manages internal information and records


Executive Director, Strategic Engagement and Governance

The Strategic Engagement and Governance team:
  • Shapes and supports strategic communications across all internal and external channels
  • Advances strategic advocacy efforts and engages and collaborates with stakeholders to build strong external relationships
  • Oversees the governance functions of the Association including Council, Executive and Council Committees
