Candidate statement
Your professional integrity matters to me, and I will fight to defend it. I am writing to ask for your support in my bid for Re-Election.
During these difficult times while we embark on a significant reduction in the size of Council, (this could be the last election for this position), change our internal Governance, and when CMPA has had significant turnover on Council, I feel it is valuable to have Councillors with experience and the ability to provide corporate memory.
I remain available 7 days/week as a resource to you when required ([email protected]) 905-702-3003.
Through my participation on essentially every CMPA committee, I believe that the most important priorities for the CMPA are:
1.Defending your integrity and reputation – including virtual care -- never settling solely for expediency.
2. Providing the high-quality ongoing education and advice combined with your commitment to patient safety that has reduced your annual risk of being named in a lawsuit by 50% over time.
3 Providing a safe place for all staff and doctors contacting CMPA while evaluating and updating our EDI principles.
4.Supporting you personally through any legal or regulatory process while creating programs that will continue to assist you to avoid these same regulatory processes - AND always demanding that they be both Fair and Transparent.
5.Extending the subsidy program for our membership fees. (I participated in negotiating this program).
6.Managing our investment portfolio prudently and continuing the development of a robust actuarial model to estimate our future liabilities. (previous FHN/FHO, ED-AFA, etc. model negotiator).
With many years of practicing full comprehensive Family Medicine in rural and semi-urban environments, being exposed to the ever-increasing array of medico-legal and regulatory risks, having provided expert advice to CMPA lawyers on many occasions and now being involved in teaching and Academic Medicine, I feel that I understand how easy it is for a situation or a case to “go wrong” and how important it is to have a vibrant organization to support and defend us.
Thank you for your confidence in me:
Pleased to be endorsed by: Drs. Tara Kiran, Wei Chu, Carli Ruderman, Robert Cooper, Arnold Smith, Sarah Fegruson, Priya Vasa, Gord Crawford
I ask for your support.
