Dr. Michael Sullivan graduated from the University of Ottawa medical school and moved to Toronto to complete an internship at Toronto East General Hospital and a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Toronto. For most of his career, Dr. Sulllivan practised anesthesiology and critical care medicine in Newmarket, Ontario, where he served as the Chief of Anesthesiology, the Medical Director of the Intensive Care Unit, and the Physician Lead for Surgery. Recently, he has relocated his practice to Toronto General Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Sullivan was the Chair of the Specialty Committee in Anesthesiology at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada from 2010 to 2016. During this time, the specialty was an early adopter in the transformation to competency-based medical education. Recently he has been a Regional Medical Lead on Ontario’s COVID-19 Critical Care Command Center.
